Ollie Welch - AUdio Specialist
Audio doesn't stay in one place — and neither do I. I'm a freelance audio engineer with credits spanning high-end post-production, live theatre and touring, adaptable by nature and precise by training and experience. I bring the same level of craft to a Soho recording suite as I do to a touring stage or a 1,000-seat theatre. With a background performing and composing across folk, rock and ambient genres, I bring a musician's ear to every engineering environment I work in — and occasionally make some noise of my own.
My Background:
My career has branched from multiple areas as I worked as a freelance music producer and musician for many years. I gained experience in many different areas, such as composition, songwriting, production techniques, and teaching. This career eventually led me to create music and sounds for moving picture, and from my passion for games I developed my knowledge of how to create believable audio to use on projects using game engines such as Unity and Unreal Engine.
My Sound Design:
I greatly understand how to make sounds impactful and effective from my music production background. By incorporating production techniques I have picked up over the years, I fully appreciate how to take sounds to the next level. Along with my microphones and remote recording knowledge, I find the sounds that work for the project, execute recording/editing them and even have a good understanding of audio integration. So, when the client needs that can help with this or needs someone who can integrate into a development team, I've always got them covered.
My Composing:
My compositions range from different styles. Every project is different, and music must capture that while guiding the player or viewer's emotions. When working on a project as a composer, I always enjoy having an excellent understanding of the project to dive deep into the music and create compositions that work in tandem with the visuals.
